Dr Sophia Khalique MBChB Distinction MRCGP DA DRCOG DFFP

Sophia is allowed to be a good old-fashioned GP by working in the private sector. She says she hasa little bit of medical knowledge and a lot of common senseand knows when to ask for specialist support.

She makes herself approachable and available and is able to relate to clients and patients from all genders, backgrounds and ages. She champions individuality and is therefore especially interested in not only their physical health, but also their mental health.

Forever at the forefront of medical care, she believes prevention is better than cure and encourages comprehensive assessments from a young age. This allows her to target risk factors, which coupled with her increasing interest in anti-ageing medicine aims to try to equate lifespan with healthspan.

She graduated with a Distinction from Leicester Medical School in 1991. Her subsequent training was in London teaching hospitals in Accident & Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Whilst working in Anaesthetics she was awarded the prestigious Magill Medal. Sophia holds the Diploma of Obstetrics & Gynaecology from the Royal College and is a Member of the Faculty of Family Planning.

She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and worked as an NHS GP before a 20-year partnership on Wimpole Street. Through this she has gained a vast amount of experience before setting up her own practice on Harley Street in 2021.

Shehasthree young adult children, who all seem intent on pursuing a career in fashion. She herself enjoys fashion, family, friendships, fun and keeping healthy and fit.

Sophia feels very lucky to have her vocation. She knows how important it is to be healthy and happy and strives to enable her staff, clients and patients to be so.

FAQ

Have Some Questions

A half hour appointment will be made in order to deal with any acute problem and also to go through our patient registration process.

The office is open 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Thursday, 8 am to 5.30 pm Fridays and 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays.

Out of hours care is solely provided by Dr Sophia or Dr Tamimi. The 24 hour telephone line will be picked up by an answerphone which will give instructions regarding contacting the doctor on call. The doctor can give telephone advice and where appropriate will supply prescriptions through to pharmacies. Consultations on video or face to face either in the practice or at home if in W1, or neighbouring locations where possible, are provided. Under certain circumstances it may be appropriate to arrange admission to hospital directly which we can do via our close network of specialists. Please note that the above services are available to patients who are registered with the Practice and there is a charge for out of hours advice and services for those patients who are not on monthly membership. Those on monthly membership will have direct access 24/7 to their GP of choice.

We value your feedback; good or bad, so please let us know. We carry out and publish annual patient satisfaction surveys. We are registered with The Care Quality Commission that regulates health and social care throughout England. We also have a formal complaints procedure if things have gone really badly and this can be accessed by contacting the Practice Manager.

The general answer to this is “No”. UK based Private Health Insurance companies will usually only recognise for the purposes of reimbursement, the services of individuals whom they define as Specialists.

We do not generally deal directly with insurance companies and work on the basis of individuals and corporations settling their own accounts and then claiming back directly with their respective insurance companies.

You can register at your first consultation with an acute problem or choose to register ahead of this. You will then pay for individual consultations, out of hours telephone advice and repeat prescription requests and referrals. Laboratory fees and vaccinations/drugs are additional where appropriate.
